The Donau Soja Networking Event 2025 took place on 4 September 2025 in Vienna, Austria, and was dedicated to discussing the European protein strategy with more than 100 members and partners from the enitre soybean value chain. A panel discussion with the topic ‘Why we need a European protein strategy” featured six panelists from European commission, policy and industry stakeholders on the importance of creating a protein strategy to fill the European protein gap and increase resilience of soya supply chains.

In the thematic session ‘Climate-ready strategies for European soybean production’, partners from the Legume Generation project used the opportunity to present their work.

Donal Murphy-Bokern presented the project under the title: Developing European soya in a warming world. Donau Soja, as Legume Generation project partner, presented the project and talked about the role of EU-funded projects for a sustainable protein transition.
