Red clover (Trifolium pratense) and white clover (T. repens) are among the most important forage species in Europe. They make up a significant and growing element of ruminant diets, due to a growing awareness of the benefits they bring to grassland agriculture, both in productivity and in mitigation of environmental impact. The clover innovation community initiated within Legume Generation comprises 10 pre-breeding and 8 breeding programs spread across three continents.
